November 26, 2014, in London
Justine Waddell and Professor Ian Christie, European and Russian cinema specialist, shared their knowledge of First World War cinema with GRAD visitors to mark the end of the exhibition 'A Game in Hell. The Great War in Russia.' A collaboration with Kino Klassika Foundation, this was an evening exploring how the First World War was depicted in Russian film. In Justine's own words from a post on facebook, it was an evening to hear "Prof Ian Christie and myself in conversation about film, censorship and Soviet Socialist Realism."
The discussion was complemented by a selection of clips, from documentary to feature films and archival footage.
Ian Christie is a film historian, curator and broadcaster, and a trustee of Kino Klassika. Justine Waddell is an actress, screenwriter and trustee of Kino Klassika. She is currently working on a screenplay adaptation of Virginia Woolf's early comic novel, Night and Day, and has played lead roles in feature films.
